Brown in Spring
Recently I got myself an impulse buy, a pair of the best fitting jeans on the planet from Frankie B. But they’re brown… Like camel brown! Or, Khaki brown! And it’s spring! To avoid looking like I’m ready for autumn in my new jeans I went on a hunt for shoes to match this, often misunderstood and under appreciated, color- camel. At first I thought: turquoise, but after 3 hours of looking at shoes I gave up on what seemed to be a simple task. And then, I found these: How perfect are these wedges!? A mix of cute pattern, black, white AND brown! The inter-web state this confusing rule…

Misophonia
I first learned about Misophonia about a year ago, that’s when I realized I’m not the only person in the world who’s being driven insane by certain sounds. Misophonia literally means “hatred of sounds” and is a brain disorder. But it’s not what you think. It’s not that I’m a negative person who chooses not to like sounds, like when people breathe loudly, pop gum or chew with their mouth open. Those certain sounds, usually repetitive, trigger something in my brain that instantly changes my mood to be very angry and bothered – and I can’t explain why. I first started noticing that some sounds bother me when I was…

Now lusting: Faux Fur Otto
I know in 5 years I’ll look at it and say it was so cheesy, like that one time I bought a faux fur purse, and pink faux fur winter “moon boots” but there’s something so appealing about a fluffy soft cushion for you feet! Clean feet, of course. So I’m not a DIY girl, I’m more of a BUY girl (yes, I took it from some movie I watched a while ago) but I’m kind of convinced I can do this on my own. Some legs, some fur, some foam, some glue, right? We’ll see. For now I’m still saving up for that couch 😉

It’s My Way Or The Pie Way
Sometimes a girl’s gotta bake a pie. Ingredients: 1 pie crust (or make it from scratch, I’m not judging) 2 apples Drizzle of honey and lemon juice ~ half a cup of brown sugar Pinch of salt and cinnamon 1 glass pan Directions: Thaw the crust according to instructions. Meanwhile, peel them apples, slice into half moons, toss in a bowl with all other ingredients. Roll the pie crust into your pan, cut off edges. Don’t toss out the crust remains! Now, spoon them apples into the pie crust. Take all the remaining pie crust dough and make into a ball, then grate over the top of the pie, to…

Leather Jacket
I bought this awesome leather jacket from Guess about 8-9 years ago, wore the spirit out of it and was very sad to realize it’s time to let it go (in the closet, not the trash, you silly duck!) So I’ve been looking around for a new one lately and everything was bleh or meh, nothing worth writing home. I went to check out an apartment in Lincoln Park today (which was so so so adorable, but so so so tiny for my family of 2 plus 4 furballs.. ugh.) Afterwords, I grabbed some Happy Hour beer and Tapas at Cafe Baba reeba! and as I was walking back to…

Couch Spotting
Having four adorable minions comes with perks and well, sacrifices. My little Choco a.k.a. Chocolate Bear LOVES playing living room fetch, running, jumping, hopping (is hopping and jumpig the same thing? hmm) all over the place. This has taken a toll on the good ole Mr Couch. (*note to self – take a photo in the a.m. and add below) This means I need (want) a new couch. since it took about 3 months for the current leather IKEA couch to fall apart, I’m assuming I should purchase something in fabric – worst comes I change out the cushion. So, looking for a new apartment and a new couch at…

Late To The Party
So Spring is here, at least on the calendar, and I’ve come to realize that my winter mission to find a new apartment has come to a fail. Perhaps my plan that stated “less people are moving in winter so I’ll have more to choose from” kicked me in the behind, I mean, if less people are moving, less apartment are available, duh! So back to square 1000 and back to the endless Craigslist hunt. To brighten up my day I shot this photo of mini French Macarons. Love them, sweets make me happy! Isn’t this a beautiful photo? What are some little things that make your day?

Now Obsessing: Cajun Seasoning
I’m not huge on spicy, hot foods, in fact, whenever my boyfriend takes me to his mom’s house, we make a pit stop at a drive-thru somewhere because I know I won’t be eating any of that spit-fire papaya salad, hell no. Take me to a pho shop and I order a chicken broth, then eat it plain, sorry, no Sriracha for this white girl. Recently I came across this Cajun seasoning that I’m totally in lust with, though. It makes shrimp “punch you in the face” – as the brand’s website puts it, and not the kind of “your-eyes-will-be-watery-and-your-nose-will-be-running-the-whole-time” punch in the face. I use it on everything; chicken,…

The Slouchy Beanie
Like many girls, I don’t look very good in hats. Maybe it’s my big ears, maybe I’m just being picky… So I decided to give the “Slouchy Beanine” a try.. until I saw the prices! around $30-$50 FOR A HAT? Ugh. So I’m adding this very warm and cozy looking beanie to my secret wish list and until then, I’ll fight the Polar Vortex in Chiberia in my ugly hat. Meh 🙁

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide
Some of us like the cliche and Hallmark-ness of Valentine’s Day. Maybe it’s because we just can’t forget that feeling of couriosity and excitement when we were 12 year old girls wondering if we’ll receive a secret Valentine. We might be all grown up now, but knowing someone’s heart could skip a beat because of a small surprise still makes us smile and even blush a little. Since men aren’t always very creative, or resourceful, I’ve made a simple list of items almost every girl has on her secret wish list this Valentine’s Day. 1. For the Elegant One -A French Macaron – LeilaLove French Macarons online store – Who would’t…
